Corinne rescues Lowenstein from Kitty Belle's clutches, but the Scuttlebug is caught in the line of fire in the process. Together the duo escape on an uphill journey toward Corinne's car.

It's timely that I should be reposting this now, as this particular scene has been excised from the latest revision of the first novel, "StarStrikers: First Strike!" There were all kinds of logistical problems centering around Corinne's crash and subsequent rescue of Lowenstein. Without spoiling things too much, let's just say the story has been streamlined somewhat.

Although these events have been retconned out of existence in today's StarStrikers, this particular frame is still one of my favorites. As I recall it was created through composition of my original art with some hillside photography (drastically toonified and altered to fit the nightime setting) and a CG skyline. Looking at it in full-resolution for the first time in more than four years, I'd forgotten how much detail was in here. I'd also forgotten how badly poor Lowenstein got hurt!
